My Dreamy Place~My Dream Space

Hello Readers! Sorry I have been M.I.A. I was in the process of moving my life & self into a new home in Logan Utah. It has been a busy & exhausting few weeks, but now all is settled. I am currently relaxing in my new room, laying on the floor, editing, blogging & creating a new Jazz playlist on my Spotify. {yes for those of you who didn't know I am a huge jazz fan. Not modern Jazz like straight up old town Jazz in some smokey bar in an old Black'n White murder mystery movie}

Anyway, I have been in heaven lately. Yes moving sucks and is hard but this time one of my life long dreams came true. I got to decorate & furnish my very own home. From scissors to a couch, I got to pick it all. It has been so fun for me & so not fun for those around me. I am a very picky person when it comes to decorating my room & now my whole home. If you haven't noticed I have a thing for all things Black-White- Gray. Almost to a fault but those colors are my favorite. They are clean, simple & add so much light to rooms. I love color but there is nothing like a room full of sort grays & whites to literally light up your room or day.

So I have finally accomplished my room. There are little things here & there that still need to come together but overall I am pretty elated with the turnout. My room is very important to me. It is my safe haven. My space, my place to tune out the world & just be with my thoughts. I like to put a lot of effort into that special pace because, I want a room that reflects me & who I am & that uplifts me & makes me a little brighter when I come & go from it.

Yesterday was my first Sunday up here without any parents & it was bittersweet. It's never fun when they leave, because they really are my best friends, but I am blessed so much to have them because they are the reason I have such a beautiful room. My room was my saving grace yesterday, after church I got to come crawl into my lovely room & rest & ride the waves of my emotions. It really has turned out to be such a peaceful & calming room, I am in love. So yesterday while I was resting I thought, "Madeline you need to get to practicing your photography & videoing, you've slacked lately" So I took a few photos & a quick little video to share some of my most favorite things about my room.

Obviously first & foremost I have a little {or not so little} reminder of my beloved city New York, it was very much a necessity for this new room. I found these giant industrial letters at Hobby Lobby & new I had to have them...& what better for than NYC. I like to think of it as, If I can't be in NYC right now, I can at least lay under its letters at night & keep dreaming until it happens. It will be so fun one day when I actually move to NYC & I get to take these letters with me.

The next necessity that HAS to be in every bedroom for the rest of my life are my beloved "twinkle lights" {yes I know they don't twinkle, but i like to call them that}. They add the perfect ambiance to just about any room, I really think they should be everywhere, if I could I would have them hanging over my head everywhere I went. They are add that whimsical dreamy affect to a room & that is about all I really need to make my room perfect. They were the first thing I purchased & put up.
   TIP: If you do go get lights for your room or any occasion I recommend getting the lights that have a white strand v.s the dark green strand. It adds a softer look & makes the lights shine a little brighter. Lights can be found anywhere from Wal-Mart to Hobby Lobby

Then comes the accessory cabinet. Now this cabinet or crate tower was built by none other than yours truly...{well I built the idea & my brother-in-law hammered the nails}. Similar ideas can be found on my Pinterest. I saw some cool ideas but came up with this one on my own & when i realized all the other ones where too complicated... I still need to spray paint it white but ignore that for now. I wanted a unique nightstand that could hold all my accessories but still be cute & spacious. It was super easy to make & is so cute. I got 3 large crates from Michael's & put a nail in the front to corners & back to corners to secure the crates to one another & you've got yourself & new nightstand.
Now within the nightstand are some of my favorite things. I don't have a closer picture {whoops, my bad} {I will upload one later on}...From Top to Bottom this nightstand hold, my favorite candle of life Bath & Body Works: Autumn. My gorgeous all white 12 watch holder from Amazon, a "Good Morning Gorgeous" picture frame turned jewelry tray {also Hobby Lobby}, & my beloved Crosley Record player found at Urban Outfitters{ps there is a sea on vinyls & music accessories right now}. My Records next to it are held on a File Sorter from Staples. {hehe}

Then comes my Mirror or the best part because who doesn't love a full size mirror? It is the best place to take a selfie, check your outfit or a last glance before you run out the door. It's my best friend.
Yesterday's Sunday Best: the dress is actually a black dress from Forever 21
layered under a Men's XL T-shirt from Target, paired with Target booties
& a trusty Arvo Watch

What would my bedroom be if the biggest item in it wasn't white & gray? I would be a hypocrite, so that why I searched & found the perfect gray & white bedding from West Elm. A few accent pillows to break it up & a little fur for some flare!

Overall my room may not be 100% finished but it is 100% perfect in my eyes. It is important to make your room a special place for you. I like mine to be warm, welcoming & whimsical, but whatever you want yours to be is up to you,my only advice is make it YOU.

p.s here is my little video of me enjoying my dreamy place & dream space. I added a little vintage edge to my video to play around with the records in my room & tie together my love for  my room & all things vintage.

a few of my favorite things

I love fashion, always have. When I was little I would get dressed up in about 10 different outfits... I still do this today. There is something so fun & freeing about fashion. It's a subtle way to show a little bit about yourself without say anything.

I do love shopping for each new season & surfing the online stores to fill up my wish lists, but finding the perfect accessories is my favorite part. They always add that final touch, bring the whole outfit together, perfectly dress up a more causal outfit or change an outfit from day to night.

I am a creature of habit as well, so I take my time finding the most perfect accessories, because I usually wear them every single day until their time is up & I find a replacement. So if you need help with your accessories here are a few of my favorite tips to find the perfect ones.

Madeline's Guidelines to your perfect accessories!
  1. Make your accessories compliment your style. I typically like a simplistic, classic, clean style. My accessories are usually simple & something gold. You can never go wrong with gold.
  2. Get at least one staple accessory that you can wear everyday. Mine is my gold CTR ring found here. OR a  cute neutral purse.
  3. Watches are always an good idea & no you can never have too many, just do not wear at the same time (;
  4. Rings are a must, just make sure they compliment your look & not too many, I never have more than three on at all times. A favorite ring for me other than gold is anything turquoise, it can be subtle,but also add some color & flare.
  5. Sunglasses may not seem like an accessory that you may think of when getting ready, but they can make or break an outfit. They do not have to be designer or expensive, but make an effort to have a wide range of glasses. I love to pick up a new sunglass from Aldo or Target every so often.
  6. Sometimes you want to have a bold accessory to add some pop for a special occasion or if you're just feeling spunky. I love a fun reflective sunglass or a lot of gold bracelets on a wrist. Be as bold as you'd like. {Im kind of boring lol }
  7. I always have two shoes to one outfit, one shoe that is a neutral and compliments my look & another that attracts the most attention for that extra POP!
  8. My favorite thing to do with my accessories is too make them personal. It helps me especially because then I know I am not spending money on something I'll never wear. It kind of helps the process of eliminating that junk jewelry look.
  9. Make all the accessories coordinate, it's fun to have a lot of different stuff for all the outfits you could create, but I like to have a certain theme throughout my accessories, so that I know that no matter the outfit all my little accents will work together.
  10. Lipstick should be your sidekick. I have colors ranging from deep purple, bright red & pinky nude. Pick your favorite & always have it with you!
Now if you hate all these tips, like some, or all, that is fine. This is just some guidelines I like to remind myself of when shopping for my next accessory. Mine are always very personal to share a little bit of me without saying much. Its a fun way to spice up or tone down an outfit, but always bring the outfit together. The beauty in accessories is they don't have to be expensive either, you can find anything anywhere if you know your style.

a little bit about me

Hello followers or occasional readers, I am Madddsss, or better known as Madeline. I am a 20 year old girl, born and raised in Southern California. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am 5'3", blonde hair, blue eyes & a dreamer. I have a creative mind that takes me from one idea to the next. I am all over the place and love to keep people on their toes. I am an amateur photographer and videographer. I have high hopes to accomplish both of these talents and create a business & career out of them. I love to capture the moments I find most fun or beautiful in my life and the life of others. I think it is a special gift to be able to do that for myself and others around me. I think life is short and beautiful and we can't allow one day to go by that we don't cherish, remember or enjoy.

I am a huge optimist..almost to a fault. I always believe everything will work out. I never get truly stressed because I just choose to focus on the positives rather than the negatives. I believe that this came from being raised LDS and always knowing that my Heavenly Father had a better plan for me than I could ever create for myself, I always knew He would be there for me, to love me, pick me up and show me the way. I was also raised by the most uplifting, loving and supportive parents in the world. They taught me that I can always come to them, trust them, and that I was a beautiful young lady who could do anything I set my mind too. I am teased among my family for my confidence. It may come off as cocky but it truly isn't from a place of ignorance, rather than a place for love. I love myself. I think I am beautiful, strong, caring, loyal, funny, and kind young lady. I don't just love my outer beauty but my inner beauty too. I always say "If I could be one thing I'd pick funny". I think that is my favorite thing about me, and it is one of the things that helps me be so optimistic. I try to make every situation a little bit better with a little bit of laughter.

I took this last year off from school and moved back home. I was trying to figure out where I wanted to go and what I wanted to be. I had always been confident I'd find my way but this year defiantly challenged that confidence. There were times I felt hopeless and convinced I'd never amount to anything. I had to many ideas, dreams and couldn't eliminate any of them. I was so overwhelmed by my indecisiveness that I thought I was doomed. When I had finally set my heart on pursuing photography and videography more seriously, things started to fall into place. Then came the struggle of where to go with this. If you know me you will know that I am OBSESSED with New York City. It has been my dream for a decade. This Spring I got to go there and visit with my parents to see if it was really something I wanted to pursue...It was! However, after much discussion and more prayer I have decided to go back to Logan Utah to be an aid in my sister's Elementary class. Random. I know. New York will just have to await a little bit longer. It was a good opportunity to serve others, and honestly sometimes that helps me better figure out my life. By being a help to my sister and focusing on helping these kids, I know I will have a clearer mind to figure out my life. It will be a better social life for me to be back in a college town, with kinds my age and in my same position. I am a bit of an introvert so it will challenge me to get out there.

Quick fill in...I went to Utah State University for one year back in 2013, took a year off to figure out life, and now going back to Utah. I will not be attending school this year but who knows maybe next year. Anyway, going back to Utah was not on my list of options this whole last year. It was actually on my list of "I don't want to's" I hadn't enjoyed my first year there so had automatically written it off. Then my sister offered me this job when I felt I was going to drown in "I don't knows". It was a little bit of a life saver. Though I had no intentions of going back the second she presented the idea it felt right. I don't quite know why, but maybe I'll find out later this year. I have been feeling good about this decision ever since then, which is huge for me. I have committed to 100 ideas but then backed out weeks later because it didn't feel right, but this one does.

So in order to make the best of my situation I have challenged myself to live outside my comfort zone this year. Do the things I naturally would be opposed to. I will be focusing a lot on perfecting my photography and videography skills and would love to work with the new people I will meet this year. I will also make a huge effort to really meet and befriend a lot of people this year. It's a great college town filled with wonderful people. I am excited for this experience. Hey if any of you reading this are in Logan.. hit me  up.

As I have said  I am a huge believer in being optimistic. So even though this was not what I had hoped for my future this fall I will do my best to make the best of it. I am young, I am beginning my twenties, prime time in socializing years, I am going to make the best of my new year.

I just wanted to write this little bit about me to, show to my readers that though I try to be as positive as I can be, and though I may photograph or video the most perfect moments of my life, I am still real. I make mistakes, I have flaws, insecurities and issues...but who doesn't? I am not creating this blog or my videos to compete or show that I am perfect. If you are following me to see my perfect hair, perfect outfits and perfect life, I apologize that is not what you'll get. I will show my flaws, my messy hair, I will share my trials and issues, but always with an uplifting positive twist to it. So please follow along and share my posts and videos because my photos and videos are so important to me no matter how lame, silly or pointless they may seem. I create them for me and those who are close to me. If you'd like me to create one for you or work with me please feel free to contact me. I believe life is beautiful and it will all work out, so follow along to see where it takes me.

with love, Madddsss

//Meet Me//

I am a huge girly-girl. I love to get dressed-up, play in make-up and do my hair. It is one of the many perks I enjoy being a girl. Fashion and make-up have always been a big part of my life. For years I have played in my sisters clothes & make-up until I was able to have my own. Still to this day when I get bored I will wash my face and re do my make-up just so I have something to do.

Now that I am 20 and still doing this...I decided today to have a little fun with it and make a video. Now this video is actually pretty pointless and lame, but I like it. It really allows me to show a part of me to you guys. I am always behind the camera, so it's fun to be in front of it. Since I am pursing videography, a career that highlights and focuses on the most perfect clips of life, I'd like to show you guys a few times that I am a real person. I have flaws, I am not perfect, I wear make up regularly & still cannot wing my eyeliner properly!! LOL..there is nothing perfect about my life. I think that the most important thing a girl should have is confidence in herself. To all the woman reading this, you are beautiful & you can do & be whatever you want. Have a little confidence in yourself & know you are beautiful and you are practically unstoppable. So here if a fun video that shows I am human... I love to dance, get ready and be funny, so get to know me and check out the new video here!

{p.s sorry its all blurry I wasn't able to adjust... I am still learning}
